There is a one-size-fits-all gift that would be absolutely perfect this year for everyone on the list and would not have a price tag:  the gift of yourself.  Of course we should do this all year long, but especially during the festive holiday season, we are reminded of what is really important in life.

Christmas is about gifts.  But when we get caught up in the chaos and commotion, not to mention the commercialism  of the holidays, we have difficulty remembering the true reason for the season.

So with a year ending in economic turmoil, record low home prices, and rising unemployment, we can remember to give gifts that are tied with heartstrings; that surprise and delight:  perfect gifts of unconditional love, selflessness, trust, forgiveness, reassurance, compassion, charity, acceptance, renewed relationships and second chances.

To give such gifts and to truly open our hearts to receive such gifts gratefully and gracefully, Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents.
