Like it or not, the personalities of our homes are accurate barometers that reflect, through our surroundings, where we have been, what's going on in our lives and who we are.

While money certainly helps us express ourselves through our surroundings, creating a warm, inviting home that reflects our own personality  doesn't have to begin by hiring a decorator or pulling out our credit cards or checkbook.

Most people will express themselves in their homes whether they want to or not, in one way or another.  Everyone has an amount of creativity that should not be put on hold until there is more cash to decorate.  So much can be done with some paint, material, inexpensive "odds and ends"  from a flea market or garage sale  . . . . and a lot of creativity and fun.

When we begin to bless our circumstances and discover our personal preferences, we will begin to transform the places we live into havens of comfort and contentment, without the need for any new furnishings or added expense.

Through this holiday season, no matter where or how you live, look upon your home through the eyes of "love."  Walk around the rooms and be thankful for the walls and roof that safely enclose you and your family.  Pause for a moment to consider all those this year who have lost their homes through death, divorce, insurmountable debt, disaster or foreclosure.  Be grateful for the home you have, knowing that all you have is all you truly need.   "There's no place like home for the holidays."
