My New Blog

September already!  Since ancient times, September has been viewed as the beginning of the new year instead of January, a time for reflection and resolution.

Change in the natural world takes shape as seasons give way to one another, even in the south.  When the leaves start turning colors, it can be a time for turning over a personal new leaf so that we can take a good look at where we are compared to where we want to be.  January's traditional resolutions are made when we are worn out in spirit, body, and finances, and really have no urge to do anything but rest after the chaos of the holidays.  Is it any wonder that most of them are never kept?

January resolutions are about will; September resolutions are about actual wants.  We may want a new job or career, a new home,  a new hobby, new friendships or adventures, new activities or just re-newed hope.   The beauty of autumnal resolutions is that no one else knows we are making them.  There is no celebration with confetti or champagne.  September resolutions ask only that we be open to positive change.  A positive attitude can make anything happen!
