Lots of positive signs and growth are apparent in the Davenport area and the Posner Park Shopping Complex.  As for Posner, there are more retail and restaurant openings pending:  recently opened is the Mattress Mart and Zen Asian Grill; pending soon is Payless Shoe Store and Cici's Pizza.  Other openings by spring will be Ross Department Store and numerous small cafe, sushi, and ice cream shops.  Every month more leases are being secured and it is exciting to see this long term project finally become a reality.  Belk department store held a grand re-opening last week and met with huge success!

Growth is also happening in the medical field.  The Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center just opened its new 4th floor to serve the needs of patients who have had general surgery, cardiac surgery and other special procedures.  Occupying half of this new floor is the Joint Replacement Center - a specialized center for patients who have elected to have joint replacement surgery performed there.  Heart of Florida is nationally recognized for its total joint replacement program and is rated among the top 10 percent of orthopedic facilities in the nation.

Ground has been leveled for construction of the new Healthplex, adjacent to the hospital.  This building will be a multipurpose wellness center offering outpatient therapy services, including a fitness facility with a lap and therapy pool.  It will also be used by patients for outpatient physical, occupational, speech and hand therapy, as well as cardiac rehabilitation.  Membership in the Healthplex will be available to those who wish to use the fitness facility for their exercise.  It will host a community space for support groups, classes and numerous screenings, including low-cost breast screenings.  Completion of this building is targeted for late 2009.
