Downtown Disney, with the Market Place and formerly Pleasure Island, has always been a favorite spot for guests and residents alike.  Plans are now in the beginning stages of a three year project, to transform this area into new shopping, dining and entertainment experiences, many of which will not be found anywhere else.

The former Pleasure Island is being transformed into a new "wharf" area that will include stylish boutiques, chic restaurants and a lakeside park with pedestrian walkways, similar to a port city of the past.

In addition to the new wharf district, there are other projects currently underway, including an extensive renovation of Lego Imagination Center, enhancements at the AMC 24 screen theatre building, which will add some "firsts" to Florida theatres, and numerous new retail shops and entertaiment.

Currently, there is already so much to enjoy at Downtown Disney, including Cirque du Soleil, Disney Quest, House of Blues, Characters in Flight Balloon Ride, and numerous shopping, dining and entertainment experiences.  There is no cost to visit Downtown Disney, which makes it favorable for the entire family to spend a day.

The future of Downtown Disney promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience for all ages, and will thrill everyone with a vibrant atmosphere that can be enjoyed by day or by night.
