My New Blog

Most of us make special friends in elementary school but do not necessarily stay as close friends throughout high school.   We may see them again through class reunions, but do not reconnect on a personal level.

Last year there was an effort made to re-unite many of the elementary school classmates who grew up together in a very small town in western Pennsylvania.   It was wonderful to share the memories, but also to share each other's lives after almost 40 years.  There was a small group of girls who had played together often during those young years, but had not seen or talked to each other since high school.  What has happened is amazing!

It was decided that this small group of girls would plan an annual event in order to stay in touch.  Last weekend we all met in Atlanta, GA to stay at one friend's home and we have all come away with renewed friendships, incredible love and respect for each other, and a solid bonding.  There was  much laughter, many tears, and an abundance of stories.   We came from a variety of states and lifestyles, but still had our morals and values in common. 

In this technologial world of today, we sometimes get caught up in computers rather than friendships.   But if there was someone special  in elementary school or beyond, it is well worth the effort to find this person once again.  We can never go back, but we can pick up from where we left off and go forward.   There is a tremendous reward in finding or renewing friendships.  Life will become infinitely rich and beautiful knowing you have love and support beyond your immediate family.  Go find that friendship!
