It has officially been announced that the long awaited Legoland will open for business on October 15, 2011.  The 150-acre theme park will cater to kids ages 2 to 12 and will feature replicas of famous American buildings, such as the White House.  Plus it will have at least 20 rides, from coaster to race cars and family-focused shows and attractions . . . . . something for the entire family.

The location of Legoland is the former Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven and parts of the botanical gardens will live on untouched and the famous Cypress Gardens water ski show will re-emerge as an extreme stunt show with Lego Pirates.

There are currently four other Legoland Parks in the world (California, Denmark, Germany, and England) but Polk County's will be the largest of the five and will certainly bring a spark of life back into this region.  It will bring much needed tourist activity into East Polk County from Exit 55 off of I-4 and hopefully this will in time spur on the addition of much needed restaurants and shopping facilities, specifically in Posner Park!
