My New Blog

Recently I had what was first thought to be a serious eye problem and it was a frightening experience.   Thankfully everything is okay, but it made me acutely aware of just how precious our ability to see really is!

Professional artists know well that nothing is too insignificant or uninspiring for attention and they hold the sense of sight as sacred.  Pablo Picasso once said, "If only we could pull out our brain and use only our eyes, we would be amazed at the world around us."  Another artist quoted, "to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time."

Yes, to see takes time.   And the unrelenting truth is that we haven't the time.  Most of us have been given a miraculous gift - the ability to see - but we don't take the time to do more than glance around.  We take our sense of sight for granted when we are driving, reading, shopping, surfing the internet, and doing our hundreds of daily chores.

Today, really look around at your world - your family, your home, your pets, your co-workers, and the strangers on the street.  Smile at everyone you meet because you can see them.  When the world was created, the first command was light so we could see, and it was good.  Now, we need to take time to see just how good it really is!
