Many are really getting tired of nothing but negative news, a "doom and gloom" philosophy, and the feeling of total defeat.  While taking psychology classes, I did learn some extraordinary things about the mind and how it works.  The subconscious mind, which controls most of our reactions, has no sense of humor, doesn't understand magnitude, and doesn't differentiate between what is really going on and what we are just imagining, so we can spend a great deal of time recycling bad things through our mind.  This type of recycling is not good for us or for our environment - the people around us.

Another interesting point about our mind is that we can only hold one thought at a time.  Have you ever tried to think about one movie while watching another, or tried to hum to a tune while a different one is playing on the radio?  Your mind flips in and out like the hologram on a credit card!

It is so important to both our mental and physical well being to continually think of something positive and stop the recycling of bad things.  There is an 80/20 rule not only to marketing and sales, but also to "worrying."  When troubles or bad times come our way, we should spend 20% of our time worrying about the situation and 80% of our time doing something positive about it.

Mother Goose gave us similar information many years ago:

"For every ailment under the sun, there is a remedy or there is none.  If there is one, try and find it.  If there is none, never mind it."

It takes much practice and concentration to live the 80/20 Rule Of Worrying or learning to recycle the mind.  But once mastered, life is so much more pleasant.  We certainly all look better with a smile, than a frown.   These are tough times, but the "tough" will find a way to get through it.  There are many opportunities out there right now, not just in real estate.  Stay positive and find them!
