My New Blog

This is not about any resort community, but actual "reunions" with family, friends and classmates.   I just returned from Pennsyvania where I spent an entire weekend with classmates from over 40 years ago (yes, I am showing my age!) and it was so wonderful to re-live both our elementary and high school days together.

When things seem so distressing in today's world, nothing brightens up your mood faster than being with old friends . . . the ones you actually grew up with.  We all had at least some wrinkles, surgeries, or "repairs" of some kind at this stage of our lives, but everyone had the same genuine personalities of long ago.  There were so many great stories, laughs, and remembrances that we were truly taken back in time and able to forget all the worries of today.

August is typically a good month for family, high school or other reunions and if you have dreaded going for any reason, think about it again.  As we all get older, the times for these get-togethers become less and less.  You have the chance to re-new old friendships that somehow got away; you have the chance to bond with those who have mellowed with age and now seem more compatible than in younger years. 

If you have never watched the old movie, "The Big Chill" I advise you to get it.   That is what we called our reunion weekend and the positive comments continue to be posted by e-mail to everyone.  I came back with more friends than when I left, and I can't wait to see them again.  "Reunion" means "a gathering of persons after a separation" and this is so worth the time and effort it takes to travel wherever to make it happen.  I am so glad I did!
