My New Blog

August 2nd, 2010 2:56 PM

Everyone talks about the "baby boomers," the "active adults," or the "first time home buyers" but the future is going to have a new market niche which will be a group of younger buyers who will have very different priorities than their parents.

This special group of people will be in their 40's, use text, social media and smart phones; their median income will be just shy of $200,000 and most will be college grads and have some graduate work in their education.

Family will be more of a priority than a career and social status will no longer be a dominant theme nor will luxury or extravagance be a primary concern.  Authenticity will be the new prestige, with more down to earth comfortable living and less about "keeping up with the Jonses."

Previous generations would have been better off to have adopted the same priorities and learned to live with less.  Perhaps our society and economy in general would be in much better condition today.  But having lived through these tough times, the younger buyers now know the importance of getting priorities in the proper order and living within your means - a valuable lesson we have all had to learn.

Yes, I am a day early!   I am leaving for Pennsylvania tomorrow, so will post another Blog sometime next week.  Safe travels to those on vacation!
