Two "preferred places" I have visited recently in the Davenport area are well worth mentioning, as both provide the personal, home town customer service that is so lacking today in the hospitality and retail industry.

"Way Out West" in a unique little shop located directly across from the new Posner Shopping Complex and has been there for years.  However, like most people who are not keen on western wear, I never ventured into this lovely store to determine what variety of merchandise they might have . . . . . until I was searching for a particular brand of jewelry on the internet and found, to my pleasant surprise, that this store is the only one within 30 miles that carries it!  Upon visiting the store, I was delighted in the many choices of upscale shoes, leather handbags and wallets, leather jackets and belts, beautiful custom jewelry and many other gift ideas.   If they don't have exactly what you want, they will get it.  They are friendly, personable owners who go that extra mile to make a customer happy.  With the holiday season fast approaching, this is a great place to take a look!

"R-Place Eatery" is a wonderful family restaurant where smiles abound and service is exceptional.  Located just inside Haines City on Hwy. 27, there is scarcely a wait to be seated, it is quiet and cozy, prices are very reasonable, and the food is just like Mom's home cooking!  The menu offers a variety of choices from steak, chicken, and seafood to pasta, soups and salads.  We have eaten there often the past few months and have never had a meal that was not delicious, served with a smile, and given the feeling that you are very much an important part of their business.  Well worth the visit, be sure to go hungry as I guarantee you will walk away fullfilled. 

The Davenport area does have a lot to offer - perhaps a bit more than most people think!
